Happy first day of spring! LA had the coldest and wettest winter I’ve experienced in years, but thanks to all the rain nature gifted us with a sea of blossoms all over Southern California! This year I got to enjoy the wildflower super bloom at Walker Canyon Poppy Fields, where the mountains were gloriously ablaze in a blanket of orange blooms!

I had missed all the previous years of super blooms, so I was extra excited that I got to witness it this year. To ring in springtime I wore the cutest gingham set by Evenuel and accessorized with a straw hat and bag to complete the look. After the cold weather, it’s so nice to finally get to dress for all the sunny days ahead!

You’ve probably seen the poppy super bloom flooding social media, and as a result people are going to Lake Elsinore (where Walker Canyon is located) by the thousands to see this natural wonder. It’s been so popular that the city of Lake Elsinore even temporarily shut down access only to reopen it again! The insane popularity of Walker Canyon is a testament to the power of social media. There’s definitely pros and cons to this. On the flip side I might have missed the super bloom this year without the visual reminders all over Instagram. Social media is a fast and effective way to spread ideas, knowledge, and the latest trends. On the downside the quality of the experience definitely gets compromised with the increasing crowds, traffic, and trampled flowers by those who don’t practice a #leavenotracebehind mentality towards preserving nature. What are your thoughts on this? Would you prefer sharing these natural wonders with the world, or do you prefer to protect nature from becoming too “Instagram-worthy?”

It was unplanned, but looking through these photos I’m totally getting Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz vibes in this outfit. Gingham, pony tails, and straw bag - Dorothy vibes for sure! I guess Uni is my Toto? :)

How cute are these family photos?! Jack and I had such a fun time taking our pup Uni with us to hike and take in all the beautiful blooms. We’re so excited that warmer weather means more outdoor activities!
